Unfortunately it is important to fully acknowledge the consequences of your drinking. This will help with your motivation to change at times when you feel weak.
No doubt you are painfully aware of some of the consequences, but I am sure there are many which you are ignoring, or have simply forgotten. Grab a pen and write an HONEST account of some of the events that have happened as a result of your drinking.
If you are feeling brave, ask your friends or family for their suggestions. Be careful doing work like this, it can be painful enough to lead you back
to drinking again - so have a contingency plan in place, or simply stop and come back to it later.
Some possible headings might be -
- Family
- Friends
- Partner/girlfriend/ boyfriend etc.

- Physical health
- Mental health
- Finances
- Legal or criminal
As a suggestion, don’t do this type of work late at night; sleep is essential in keeping control of your moods and thus your cravings.
